The IYA2009 mailing list: outreach resources and last e-mails


Dear astronomy outreach friends,

This is the first email being sent to the IYA2009 Newsletters list since December 2010. As you may know, IYA2009 was closed at the end of last year, and Pedro Russo became International Project Manager for the Universe Awareness project. This email will be the second-last from this mailing list. We do however intend to keep posting outreach news to you, but more about that in the next e-mail.

For now we want to introduce you to a suite of other newsletters recently launched by one of the leading ground-based observatories in the world, the European Southern Observatory:

Dear astronomy outreach friends,

This email will be the last to this mailing list from our side. With these two mails we have cleaned out any old addresses and will move into the next era Beyond IYA2009. The new list owner will be the Director for International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) Kevin Govender.
Kevin is running the OAD from South African Astronomical Observatory.

Kevin will keep you informed about activities relating to the three areas of "astronomy for development": (i) university education and research; (ii) young children and school education; and (iii) public outreach. He will also send out calls for interest in developing astronomy in your regions, as well as relevant opportunities as they arise. It won't necessarily be a regular newsletter but relevant information as things come up.

You can naturally decide to unsubscribe. More about that in Kevin's first mailing.
