The system is designed to monitor key site parameters required for the construction of large-aperture optical telescopes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, featuring autonomous, all-weather, high-altitude-adapted site monitoring capabilities.

该装备的启用将大幅提高中国光学天文的观测能力， 为即将发射的中国空间站巡天空间望远镜 CSST 和已建成的中国天眼 FAST 等其它波段望远镜的后随光学观测提供必要条件，并为未来中国建设更大口径地面光学望远镜以及发射 6 米以上空间拼接望远镜积累经验，争取在从行星到恒星、从银河系到宇宙的全方位科学研究中取得世界一流成果，为国家深空探测战略、全人类科技进步和社会发展做出贡献。
