Compatibility with SXP equatorial mounts
The STAR BOOK TEN automatically identifies the SXP mount when connected.
■ Improved appearances of planets
Images of some planets are more accurately displayed.
・The appearance of the waxing and waning of Mercury and Venus is displayed.
・The apparent size of Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn changes in relation to the zoom level of the screen.
・The appearance of the inclination of Saturn's ring is displayed.
・The appearance of Jupiter's stripes is improved. The approximate location of the great red spot is displayed.
・The four Galilean moons are displayed.
■ Improved images of a lunar eclipse
The shadow of the earth (the area of the sun's disc blocked by the earth) at a lunar eclipse is displayed.
■ Numerical key entry
Every parameter in the dialog boxes which are designated by number can be entered with numerical keys.
■ Additional languages
Languages selection is available in Italian, German and Spanish in addition to English and Japanese.
■ Improvement in the initial setting procedure
In the "Inital Configuraton" menu, values entered in the dialog box were not saved before you advance the screen, except for "Setting local Time". This issue has been resolved and the values are saved as you enter OK in the dialog box.
■ Addition of Auto IP functionality for LAN
If a DHCP server is not detected on connection to a LAN, the STAR BOOK TEN automatically assigns its own IP address 169.25.a.b (where a and b are arbitrary numbers). Your steps to an update become easier.
■ Adding a heading "About LAN" to "Initial Configuration" and "System Menu"
The Heading "About LAN" is added to the screens of the "Initial Configuration" and "System Menu" menus to allow for finding the IP Address easily. As a result, information on the LAN is independent of the "About StarBook TEN" screen.
■ Applicable to StellaNavigator Ver9 (9.0c) software
Enables operation of the AXD equatorial mount through astronomical software "StellaNavigator Ver.9 (9.0c)" published by AstroArts Inc, Japan (Japanese language only).
» AstroArts Inc.
■ Adding "Objects Located Recently" to "Object Menu"
The most 20 recently viewed objects chosen from "Object Menu" are stored in the memory of the STAR BOOK TEN. The memory is alive after you turn off the power switch of the AXD equatorial mount and you can refer to them as your GoTo target of your next observing session. The stored data of the objects can be erased by initializing the memory in "System menu".
■ Adding "Moon Map" in the "Moon" dialog box of "Sun Moon Planet"
A moon map can be displayed on the screen. The major lunar "seas" and terrains of the surface of the moon can be selected as your target object. The map of the moon can be turned around and mirror-reversed according to your viewing orientation with a diagonal prism or a diagonal mirror.
■ Calling up "Moon Map" by pressing the (1 SOLAR) key a little longer
The "Moon Map" function is allocated to the (1 SOLAR) key and this can be called up directly by pressing the key a little longer.
■ Calling up "Display Style" by pressing the (3 R/X/A) key a little longer
The "Display Style" function is allocated to the (3 R/X/A) key and this can be called up directly by pressing the key a little longer. You can go to this function from "Chart Setting" in the System menu as well.
■ Calling up "Bayer Designation" by pressing the (6 STAR) key a little longer
The "Bayer Designation" function is allocated to the (6 STAR) key and this can be called up directly by pressing the key a little longer. You can go to this function from "Constellation" in the Object menu as well.
■ Visualizing input sigals from an external auto guider by lightening relevant direction keys
The direction keys are backlit in correspondence to input from an external auto guider.
■ More refined performance
We have revised programs to enhance stable motion.
