研究人员宣布，他们在一个行星上发现了水，但这次不是在火星上。事实上，这个被称为 51 Pegasi B的行星甚至不在我们的太阳系中，其是一颗距离地球约50光年的系外行星
研究人员利用位于智利的甚大望远镜(Very Large Telescope)来研究这颗遥远的星球。 51 Pegasi B是被认为是一个“热木星”系外行星，意味着它是一颗体积巨大的行星，其公转轨道极为接近其宿主恒星的类木行星，具有较高的表面温度。研究人员采用了一种新颖的方法来研究这颗行星，在四个小时内持续对其进行观察，并发现了这颗行星大气中有水的存在。
