The ring nebula WeBo 1 was first reported by Bond et al. (2003), who discussed its morphology in images and the properties of the central star. It was discovered independently on 1999 October 6 during our narrowband imaging survey of nearby star-forming molecular clouds, seen on a wide-field narrowband Hα image obtained with the 1° field of view MOSAIC CCD camera mounted on the Kitt Peak 0.9 m telescope. This prompted us to obtain additional imaging and spectroscopy of WeBo 1.
