You can download and test the very first pre-alpha release from here:

I know there are still bugs and room for of improvements, optimization, etc. "Unfortunately" I have built this application so big and I got so little time lately that I should probably focus on getting the core functionality working right and here any suggestions and ideas will really help.

It is compiled on XP. On windows 7/Vista you might encounter problems (mostly due to a tighter permissions) – I will get them fixed as soon as I will get some time to setup a platform.

aray 看看這軟體 是否可以幫助學生認識星座 ?

不知道有沒有人使用過這軟體 ?

剛拿圖來  match star ..跑到 level6 就說 error

不知道是否有規定 圖片大小 ?

不過發現軟體認不得中文檔名 .. file name 得是英文名 .

剛拿 aray 冬季星空來 match , 不知道是否魚眼圖片有問題

run level8 後也是 error

還是圖片識別 是有那類限制 ?

In the case of wide angle photos, especially if you have land features in the picture there could be matching problems. You can use the areas option to block these areas in the images to interfere with the detection process. Also, for now the application handles a reasonable amount distortion (there are several options you can tweak in menu->options->matching) in order get you image solved. Fisheye projection corrections (or alike) I have not implemented but it's on my todo list for near future.
And there is something else you can try on these images, use hint.
I will look into the crashing problem at a certain matching step - can you please email me these images?

In some cases the detection will work without any problem - like in the picture bellow the guy managed to solve at first try:

A new version has been released with:

- updated the star common names list with a better one 
- added extension files one and two to tycho2
- added map for common names with tycho2
- fixed 2mass catalog names display error
- fixed show/hide all objects from menu->view objects
- fixed search in spiral - which is now set default as it's faster (instead of swipe)
- added a simple method to check/notify on updates
- some minor bug fixes

Also, note that now there is a forum on the site to discuss more in depth the technical problems.
