ASTERIA 团队又宣布了一个好消息，其 CubeSat 探测到了首颗系外行星。这颗小卫星的体型，和一只公文包差不多。即便如此，它仍能够精确测量已知的超级地外行星（55 Cancri e）的传输光变曲线（当后者“凌日”时）。ASTERIA 是 NASA 喷气动力实验室（JPL）与麻省理工（MIT）的一个合作项目，前者的 Phaeton 计划为其提供了资助（旨在为工程师的早期职业生涯提供培训）。

    上周颁布的奖项，是为了表彰 ASTERIA 在 2017 年的一项主要任务，因其证明了 CubeSat 具备机械与热稳定性，可与开普勒和其它传统太空望远镜相媲美。

2018 年初，ASTERIA 表现出了 0.5 弧秒的指向稳定性、以及 0.01 摄氏度的热稳定性。
