Hi all,

the absolute magnitude of C/2013 US10 appears to be about 6 to 7.
This is well above the Bortle limit of survivability for its perihelion
distance of 0.82AU, so I doubt it will disintegrate.
Very dusty objects have a slow rate of brightening, so assume n=3 and a peak
brightness of magnitude 6, rather than 4-5.
(but I hope I'm wrong!)

on another note C/2015 G2 MASTER "appears" to be dynamically new, after all!
I estimate its absolute magnitude at 8.5
and its risk of disintegration is about the same as C/2013 V5 Oukaimeden
(which did survive but suffered mass loss at perihelion last September)
Comet MASTER looks healthy at the moment and is developing nicely.

8月照片來

可能在10月成為肉眼可見的天體，在11月底時亮度達到峰值。這顆主要是南半球才得見的彗星，一直要到在12月中旬之後，它高度傾斜的軌道才會快速地把它帶入北方的天空中

考慮到仰角要超過20度比較好拍的話,至少要等到12/10以後了吧...
12/8和殘月一起好像會是不錯的取景,不過彗星的仰角還是有點低,
再加考慮月光影響的話, 12/10~12/21會比較適合

11月15日，她到达了离太阳的最近点——近日点，在地球轨道以内，从距离太阳约1.23亿千米的地方掠过。然后，她开始向地球靠近，逐渐变成一颗裸眼可见的彗星。

12月17日，她将穿越天赤道，在北半球的所有地方都可以看到。她会向橙色的巨星，北半球最亮的恒星——大角靠近，并在2016年1月1日元旦，从离大角只有1度的地方经过。随后，她将逐渐暗淡，穿越北斗，向太阳系外飞去。

她将永远离开太阳系。在这次太阳之旅中，卡塔琳娜只获得了很少的额外动能。在近日点，她和太阳的相对速度增加到了46400米/秒，只比太阳逃逸速度高了25米/秒，但这已经足以使她一去不回。

她将用去上千年时间，回到奥尔特云，并逐渐减速，但她将穿越这个她熟悉的地方，从她的出生地掠过，飞向真正的星际空间，注定要在那里漂浮几十万年。

在靠近太阳期间，她将拥有一条80万千米长的彗尾。

在这段时间，每当黎明前，只要天空够黑，我们就能在空中发现一团昏暗的斑点。除非有什么未知的原因再次改变彗星的轨道，否则人类将注定只有这一次机会能够看到她。

和宇宙中的一切一样，她注定将离开我们的视野，但她走得太快。

最後一段看起來好感傷啊...

亮度約 6等多   如果ccd 拍得下  那或許可以 拍到彗核 ,
但是尾巴那類應該不太能 .
 亮度沒預期亮 , 但是目前看來只有 us10 比較亮 .

其他顆  或明年 中 2013 x1 也是差不多 6等

右方影像為中央大學天文研究所林忠義博士於11/22凌晨，利用鹿林天文台40公分SLT望遠鏡，在晨光中搶拍到的卡塔利納彗星（C/2013 US10 (Catalina)）影像。影像中可見卡塔利納彗星的結構相當結實，亮度很集中；離子尾向左下角延伸而出，塵埃尾則沒有那麼明顯。

C/2013 US10 (Catalina) 剛在2015年11月16日經過近日點(0.822AU)，從現在起到十二月上旬的清晨，北半球的觀測者可以在東方低空的金星附近找到這一顆逐漸變亮且亮度可以達到肉眼可見的彗星。隨後，彗星朝向北天移動，經過室女、牧夫、大熊、天龍、小熊等星座，此時的彗星亮度在將在4~5等維持一段時間(在市區可藉由雙筒望眼鏡輔助觀測)直到2016年1月中旬過後亮度才逐漸下降。

　　卡塔利納彗星(C/2013 US10 (Catalina))於2013年10月31日被被卡塔利納巡天計畫 (Catalina Sky Survey, CSS) 發現，當時被當做一顆近地小行星(NEO, 發現星等約18.6等)上報給國際小行星中心，隨後經觀測確定為一顆彗星。

實在等不及了,管他月亮還在天空,早上衝到鳶峰拍了幾張/2013 US10,還蠻好找的,同場加映ISS來亂入.

應該 12月10後角度會比較高些比較好拍 .

12 月 13日  早上 3 點半出來看到  有些地方會擋到  

 所以可能 4:30  角度比較高些比較好拍

拍的真好,看樣子必須用赤道儀了.

攝星儀也可以

不過 彗星 一般得使用  300~500mm . 如果 100mm 會小顆  而且尾巴不長  不好看 .

　年度三大流星雨中的雙子座流星雨又將在12月的中旬上演， 因流星多且數量穩定，再加上今年因不受月光影響觀測條佳，民眾請把握今年這個優秀的流星雨觀看的機會。另發生於12月23日的小熊座流星雨，今年因極大期發生於白天(10:30)，且受月光影響，觀測條件不佳。

　　C/2013 US10 (Catalina)彗星已於上個月16日通過近日點，由於其遠離太陽的軌道路徑是從地球的北側通過，因此在2016年1月17日將會最接近地球(約0.725 AU)。本彗星目前觀測約+6等左右 ，12月份的亮度約在5-~6等間，月初於日出前見於東方低空，之後逐日仰角提高，於少光害處即可用簡易的望遠鏡觀看之。12月初彗星位於在室女座內向北緩移，12月24日移入牧夫座。

When is the next predicted comet visible to the eye alone? The next predicted comet that may be reach visibility to the unaided eye – and be really easy to spot – is Comet 46P/Wirtanen. It will appear as a sky gift for Christmas of 2018.

Although Comet 46P may show a magnitude of 3 or 4, there is always the possibility that a newly found comet will provide a good celestial show prior to that time.

PS: 46P彗星 本來是rosetta的目標  後來才改成67P彗星

19P 很暗

 Magnitudo 16.8 comet   19P / Borrelly

The brilliant star is Arcturus, alpha star of Bootes.
Two panel mosaic, each processed with 12 subframes, 82 sec exposure time, RASA 11 "/ F2.2, Sony A7s (CentralDS modded and cooled), ISO800, (the fireball was captured in a single frame of 30 sec at ISO3200) EQ8 mount, 2016-01-01, between 4:45h and 6:45h UT, Tenerife, Canary Islands, 1180 meter above sea level.
I regret not to have planned a 4 panel mosaic. Then you could follow this interesting tail further to the right up.

 彗星的尾巴可成兩大種類：塵埃尾和離子尾。

塵埃尾主要由塵粒組成，塵粒的大小大概是從幾十萬分之一到幾百分之一公分。同時受到太陽引力及太陽輻射壓力的影響，所以塵粒會背向太陽運動。塵粒大小不同，受到太陽輻射壓力的大小也不同，所以離開彗核的時間也不同，就會形成彎曲的塵埃尾。

離子尾主要由氣體離子組成，他不但受到太陽引力及輻射壓力的作用，一樣會背向太陽運動，同時還受太陽風及其磁場的影響，所以相較於塵埃尾，離子尾更長，更直。此外，因為太陽風及其磁場的變化，離子尾可能會出現扭曲變形等現象。參考本館展示場2F，您可以有更完整的概念
