The northern Chinese province of Shaanxi has released a plan to construct a low Earth orbit constellation of remote sensing CubeSats for resource, environmental, agricultural and other uses. The plan has been jointly developed by the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU), based in Xi'an, the provincial capital. Announced on April 24, which was China's third national Space Day, the first phase of the Shaanxi-1 (西安一号) constellation plan will consist of 72 CubeSats, reports the Chinese language China News Service. |
